Songs of Men

The songs on “Song of Men” were recorded from 1989 through 1993 and complied for release in 1996. “Some Men”, ” If I Were a Carpenter” and “Lucky Man” were the first recordings I made on my own in my new “home” studio in Pasadena, CA during the summer of 1989. After a move east, I recorded the remainder of the songs in my Connecticut home between 1991 and 1993 and after a move to New Hampshire in 1996 I released my first solo record “Songs of Men” – a tribute to my father.

I recorded over 30 songs during that time and many had to do with the questions of manhood. With my father’s unexpected passing, many of these track resonated to release some of these recordings as a dedication to him. “Some Men” features some smokin’ swap guitar playing by John Lawrence. “Daddy and Me” features my cousin Pat Fraracci on trumpet. The Tim Hardin song “If I Were a Carpenter” features great dobro playing by Chuck Kavoras. The song “Trouble Times” was written by my dear friend Scott Arvin and first recorded during the 1970’s with our band The Mood. “Dear God”, “Lucky Man” and “This is a Man,” feature myself assuming all duties. The Cat Steven’s classic “Father and Son” was recorded and played entirely by my brother Perry Celia who also duets with me on vocals assuming the role of “son”.

In the age a digital distribution and new found mastering technology, the tracks have been sonically improved from the original master and now available once again nearly two decades later. I hope you enjoy!
